Books Are Jazzy

A reader lives a thousand lives before they die. The person who never reads lives only one.

This is for all you Americans!

(And a gust of warmer air to melt your freezing fingers to make Octobrrr less brrr.)

In July 2015 I was in Florida for a few days with my friend and she showed me this idyllic book/record store mashup by the beach. The setting was really different to what I am used to here home in Finland which made it all the more amazing for me. The warm -ok hot- air and salty ocean breeze - no words to describe how wonderful the feeling was in the shop. One of my favorite things during that whole summer was biking down to the little outside shopping center in my bikinis and walking in to pick out a summer read. That time it was John Green's Paper Towns for me (and a record for my friend). It felt wonderfully free and in that moment I truly and whole heartedly loved life.

So you might like to know the name of this idyllic shop. Sundog Books. If you've ever been to Seaside in FL you might've walked by. Next time drop in. (89 Central Square) Or just take a virtual look here.

And you guessed it, I got a bookmark with my purchase. Yes!

The tall building in the background, that's Sundog, this is the small center.

This was the feeling up to the front door -love.

Seaside at night

About Us

Hi! We're Laura and Anna, two twenty-something women who love reading! We originally met each other in Atlanta, GA, over 10 years ago. Since then, we moved back to our home country of Finland, and now that we are in university, Anna lives in Turku, Finland, studying medicine and Laura lives in Asheville, NC, studying literature.

We read in a wide variety of genres, including all forms of young adult fiction and some adult books as well. Laura tries to focus on fantasy, but sometimes her coursebooks get in the way, whereas Anna is happy to read anything other than her textbooks!
