Summer Book Haul Continued
I made a few additions to my personal library this summer.
While in the United States on vacation, I got the pleasure to shop at a very cute bookshop/recordstore. The whole setting of the place was idyllic and pictoresque with white sand up to the door and a light breeze constantly blowing from the ocean. Sundog Books. That is where I bought Paper Towns by John Green. I had been looking forward to my trip and going to a bookstore so that I could by the novel. (I already read it and am now moving on to the movie adaptation). Like most cute little bookstores tend to do, Sundog Books rewards purchasing a book by giving out a bookmark. Another reason to love book shopping.
Of cource I always pay a visit to the always-reliable-and-super-cozy Barnes&Noble. This time was no exeption. After looking around for a while and finally having to ask the very helpful employee of the store for help, I was able to by my very own copy of the brand new book Off the Page by Jody Picoult and Samantha Van Leer. The book is wrapped in a beautiful purple color. Written by a mother and daughter the book has an interesting story to it. I am excited to start reading it as it was a book that I had actually been planning on getting ever since I read about it in a magazine.
As I am a girl of the summer, I received two books for my birthday from two of my very lovely friends. First there is A Court of Thrones and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I had not heard of the book before, but as it was given to me by a very reliable person considering what books to read, I am sure it won't let me down. Second I received Bone Clocks by David Mitchell, a book that my friend had seen me drooling at at a local bookstore. I have high hopes for this book also.
Finally, while I was in Stockholm, I made a radical choice to buy the Hunger Games Trilogy IN SWEDISH. Note that this is not my first or even second language. It is the fourth language that I study, to be exact, and I am not near fluent. But since I love languages and do study Swedish with a serious goal of learning it well, I decided to get a book (well, three) that I have already read so that I can learn something from it. I think that The Hunger Games was a good choice beacause it has been several years since I last read the books so a revisit to the world is welcome.
Thanks to these five books I now have more unread books that I really can't fit on my bookshelf. But along with this spacial issue I have many good hours to spend with a book in my hand ahead of me.
