Back to School 2015

I started my senior year of high school on Tuesday. This means two things:

  1. I'll be spending A LOT of time studying for finals (=less time for recreational reading???)
  2. We get to study new books!
In terms of this blog both things are important: if I'll be reading less books on my own, the content I'll be creating might be more centered on assigned reading, and secondly, on a more positive note, I'm going to be reading a bunch of great books (the IBO has to determine they're "of literary value" afterall) that I can talk (monologue?) to you about!

I already know the books I'll be reading for my English courses, whereas my Finnish teacher hasn't yet told us what we'll be studying this year. I actually took the time during the last few weeks of summer to read through my first two English books; Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. I did this so that when the time comes for us to go through them in class, I can focus more on studying and analyzing them versus simply reading them. I enjoyed both of the stories, but both had a few things that irked me. I'm hoping our last book, the play A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen, will stand up to the high standards of the other literature we've studied...

On a parting note, I'd like to wish all you students a fantastic term and remind you not to procrastinate /too/ much,
Laura
