Yes Please by Amy Poehler
Yes Please by Amy Poehler is the latest book that we read at my school's book club. While I knew this wouldn't be a book that would be praised for its literary value, I was excited when I heard about it being published. Since many of the other book clubbers also were interested in reading it, we decided to choose this as an example of non-fiction.
However when you start reading Yes Please, it drifts into other categories as well. Unsurprisingly, humor is evident throughout the book (what else could you expect from Amy Poehler?)
As you can see I found a big portion of the book laugh-out-loud funny:
What was surprising was how the book veered into being a self-help book as well. "Helpful" advice everything from how to deal with your job to recreational drug use was sprinkled in between memories of her time working at Parks & Recreation.
All in all, as a comedy book / memoir I highly enjoyed Yes Please.
