January Wrap Up

"January is here, with eyes that keenly glow,

A frost-mailed warrior
striding a shadowy steed of snow."
-  Edgar Fawcett

How has it already been a month of 2014? It feels like it was only mere seconds ago that I was ringing in the new year...

January was a really good reading month for me. I got through quite a lot of books, because of the holidays. I finished a series, started another one and read some lovely stand-alones. I got off to a nice start to my Goodreads reading challenge for this year (100 books), since I read 12.

Insurgent, by Veronica Roth

I've been holding off reading Insurgent for so long. I first read Divergent during the summer and loved it. So when I reread it for a school project in December, I took it as a chance to finish the series. I really enjoyed how the plot thickened and the characters grew in this novel.

The World of Divergent: The Path to Allegiant, by Veronica Roth

I read this book to act as a breather, before jumping into Allegiant. I wanted to stay in the same world and learn more about it, without actually having to deal with feelings towards the characters.

Allegiant, by Veronica Roth

Allegiant was a brilliantly executed ending to the Divergent series. This book made me cry a lot and that one part *casually tries to keep this spoiler-free* has made me tell a lot of people not to read this series. Despite that, I honestly think this is a series worth reading, just as long as you know what you're getting into (meaning: all the feels). I enjoyed how there were multiple points of view, whereas in the first two books we only had one. Looking back at what happened in the story, I realize what a brave (or should i say Dauntless?) choice Veronica made with the endingis.

Fangirl, by Rainbow Rowell

This book. I've been raving about it to everyone I know. If I would describe this book in one word, it would be cute. 10/10 would recommend.

This was another book that I read for school that I truly enjoyed. It was funny in all the right ways and it had healthy doses of seriousness mixed in between. I'll be posting a full review of this soon.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, by Holly Black

This is another stand alone that I enjoyed this month. I read this for my book club, and it was interesting to read another one of Holly Black's books (the only I'd read so far had been the Spiderwick Chronicles). A review will follow.

Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened, by Allie Brosh

This is truly the funniest book I've read in ages.
